Entering cambodia... The faces of angkor wat... sunset at angkor wat...
the killing fields & s-21... Food and drink
From this trip into Cambodia, if nothing else (and there was a whole lot else), I’ve become aware of one of the worst atrocities in recent history. We learn about genocides, but rarely are the Khmer Rouge mentioned. Between 1975 and 1979, approximately one-third of Cambodia’s population was destroyed by the Khmer Rouge merciless reign of terror. Today, the country continues to rebuild. Many still remember the horror and bloodshed. Survivors live next door to former Khmer Rouge murderers. Khmer Rouge still have positions in the government.
Yet, Cambodians have managed to forgive their neighbors. Cambodia is a country willing to accept its past in order to progress towards the future.
